It’s a Sign

John Sheirer

In their afternoon bio class, Jimmy dared Jeff to swipe the “BLM” sign at the house where Suzy from math class lived. “You scared of libtards?” Jimmy taunted. Suzy’s parents were some kind of doctors. Jeff didn’t know what kind or what “libtard” meant, but he was glad about the doctors because Jimmy showed up that night stumbling drunk, and the yard sign’s metal rod was now embedded deep in Jimmy’s thigh as he curled up bleeding in the grass. So Jeff ran toward Suzy’s house to get her libtard parents to help, maybe somehow get Jimmy to stop screaming.
