zucchini poisoning
blares the headline and it’s on the news
feed on my phone so I should know
better and yes it says zucchini may seem
harmless but the foreboding is hard to miss
and it does say to throw it out if it tastes bitter—
duh—unless I guess you’re hungry and have
only the zucchini trying to look innocent and
that story arrives amid the ones of how our
president has warned the islamic republic of
japan to kowtow because our missiles are
locked and loaded and pointed right at them
and how we need an arch and much more
gold and how there was a killing once again
of someone who wore the wrong skin color
and wasn’t even standing near zucchini
